Forecasted Weather Influences

There will be strong South-Westerly winds and heavy snowfall above 600 metres through much of Saturday. Winds will veer more Westerly and ease a little by evening. Up to 30 centimetres of new snow expected with heavy drifting in strong winds.

Forecasted Snow Stability and Avalanche Hazard

Deep accumulations of unstable windslab will rapidly form in all sheltered gullies, hollows and on slopes with a North through East to South-Easterly aspect mainly above 700 metres. Avalanches will occur and cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be High.

Pockets of moderately bonded windslab exist in sheltered gullies and on Northern and Easterly aspects mainly above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
