A light cover of snow exists on all aspects with some localised shallow accumulations on South-Easterly slopes. The avalanche hazard is Low (Category 1) . AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK THU 16/12/04 Strong South-Westerly winds carrying rain and snow will prevail overnight. Snow will remain on the ground above altitudes of 1200 metres. Accumulations will continue to develop on North-Easterly Aspects. During the day the snow level will drop to 550 metres. The avalanche hazard will be low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: A thin covering of snow on slopes above 900 metres presents a winter ambiance. ICING: A thin covering of rime exists on rocks and buttresses. But ground is still warm! COMMENT: A brief mild period followed by the return of cooler conditions. LOCHABER AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS WED 15/12/04 West to North-West winds brought a light dusting of snow. There are no significant snow accumulations. No avalanche hazard exists. AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK THU 16/12/04 Rain at all levels overnight will give way to snow showers above 800m during Thursday. No significant snow accumulations are expected. No avalanche hazard category is being issued for Thursday. CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Light dusting of snow above 1000m.
