Slab has continued to build on East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Where tested on a South-East aspect at 1110 metres very easy shears were present in the hard and soft slab layers. The avalanche hazard is Considerable (Category 3). AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK SUN 19/12/04 Snow showers will die out overnight with Northerly winds easing and backing to the West-South- West. Instabilities will remain on South-Easterly aspects above 900 metres with isolated areas of slab accumulating on North-East facing scarp slopes and gully exits. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable (Category 3.) CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Large areas exist on South-East aspects above 900m. ICING: Buttresses looking white with gullies a bit on the thin side. COMMENT: A few routes being done in the Northern Corries. LOCHABER AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS SAT 18/12/04 Instabilities are present mainly on North-East, East and South- East facing scarp slopes and gully exits above 900m. The avalanche hazard is Considerable (Category 3). Avalanche debris observed on E and SE aspects on Aonach Mor. AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK SUN 19/12/04 Cold, calm conditions will prevail overnight and during Sunday. Instabilities will remain mainly on North-East, East and South-East facing scarp slopes and gully exits above 900m. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable (Category 3).
