snow showers and strong nw winds have resulted in accumulations of
windslab on south to east facing slopes. small slab avalanches have
been triggered on east facing slopes. a category 4 (high localised)
risk of avalanche exists in these areas.

forecasted  light to moderate snowfalls in moderate westerly winds
will result in additional windslab development on easterly slopes.
freezing at all levels. this will maintain a category 4 (high
localised) risk of avalanche.

extensive areas of unstable windslab exist on most aspects,
especially eastern aspects. these areas extend to low altitude and
easy angled slopes. the avalanche risk is category 5 (very high).
avalanche activity observed on aonach mor.

continuing snow overnight and tomorrow will further load the existing
unstable windslab on most aspects and altitudes. avalanches will
occur on most slope aspects, especially the easterly aspects. the
avalanche risk is expected to remain at category 5 (very high).

avalanche risk at 1400 on wed 22/12/93
there are large accumulations of fresh snow on slopes having a
northerly aspect above 600m. widespread soft snow slides were
observed. avalanche risk category 3 (medium).


avalanche risk outlook for thu 23/12/93
further moderate snowfall overnight and strong sw wind veering w,
will give windslab, mainly on n to e facing slopes above 600m,giving
avalanche risk category 4 (high). avalanches will occur in these
areas.
