there are areas of deep unstable snow lying on a firm icy base on
slopes having a northerly aspect above 500m. avalanche risk category
3 (medium).

avalanche risk outlook for fri 24/12/93
snow showers and strong winds will form unstable windslab mainly on n
through to e facing slopes above 650m and avalanches will occur in
these areas. avalanche risk category 4 (high).

northern cairngorms
avalanche risk at 1400 on thu 23/12/93
light to moderate snowfall and variable winds have resulted in
accumulations of new snow of poor stability. a category 4 (high
localised) risk of avalanche exists where there are any significant
deposits above 950m

avalanche risk outlook for fri 24/12/93
forecasted moderate,later heavy, snowfall and moderate nw winds will
maintain the current avalanche hazard. any significant new
deposits are expected to be of poor stability. category 4 (high
