overnight rain at all levels will further moisten the snowpack.
snowfall and strong s/sw wind on tuesday will start to form fresh
windslab, mainly on n to ne facing slopes above 850m. avalanche risk
category 3 (medium) in these areas.

northern cairngorms
avalanche risk at 1500 on mon 10/1/94
a brief overnight thaw before a return to colder conditions has
resulted in some consolidation to the existing snowpack. strong to
gale force winds have given rise to some windslab in sheltered areas
of high north facing gullies. avalanche risk category 3 (medium)
where any significant build up exists.

avalanche risk outlook for tue 11/1/94
a return to cooler conditions with freezing level 900m. continuing
windy with moderate to strong s winds and light snowfall later in the
period. this will result in deposits of new windslab on
high sheltered n facing slopes and gullies, where any significant
deposits occur a category 3 (medium) risk of avalanche will be
maintained.

lochaber
avalanche risk at 1500 on mon 10/1/94
a recent thaw has produced a generally stable snowpack at most
levels. some isolated pockets of unstable snow still exist,
especially at higher altitudes. the avalanche risk is category 3
(medium localised).

avalanche risk outlook for tue 11/1/94
fresh snow expected on tuesday with strong s-sw winds will form areas
of unstable windslab on lee slopes as the day progresses. the
avalanche risk is expected to become category 3 (medium).
