large areas of unstable windslab exist mainly on ne facing slopes.
the avalanche risk is category 3 (medium).

a mild sw airflow, with rain at all levels will produce a moist
unstable snowpack. wet snow avalanches will occur on most aspects.
high risk of cornice collapse. the avalanche risk is expected to
increase to category 4 (high).

northern cairngorms
avalanche risk at 1500 on mon 17/1/94
some fresh deposits of new snow of marginal stability exist primarily
on slopes of a s to se aspect, even at lower elevations eg. coire
raibert.pockets of unstable windslab also noted on ne and e aspects.
a category 4 (high localised) risk of avalanche exists.

avalanche risk outlook for tue 18/1/94
forecasted rising freezing levels to 1200m (with gale force winds and
rain/ snow showers).avalanches will occur on slopes of a s aspect,
already loaded with unstable windslab. with lowering temps (to 600m)
and w winds, late p.m. additional deposits of windslab are expected
on ne to e slopes. the avalanche risk will remain category 4 (high
localised)
