are to be found in gullies and sheltered hollows on all aspects of N
facing corries above 700m. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).

Strong gale force W/NW winds with snow showers will lead to fresh
accumulations of windslab on N through to E facing slopes above 650m.
maintaining the  Avalanche Risk Category at 3 (Medium).


SUMMARY.
Strong gale force winds and fresh snow deposits will maintain the
Avalanche Risk Category at 3 (Medium).


NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SAT 22/1/94
Westerly gale force winds accompanied by snow showers have resulted
in localised accumulations of unstable windslab, particulary on
slopes of an E aspect. Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR SUN 23/1/94
The severe gale force westerly winds are forecast to continue
accompanied by heavy snowfall. This should lead to large
accumulations of unstable windslab on E facing slopes, where
avalanches will occur. Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche.

SUMMARY.
Severe gale force W winds and heavy snow will lead to unstable
windslab on E facing slopes. Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche.

LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SAT 22/1/94
Pockets of fresh windslab exist, mainly on eastern aspects. The
avalanche risk is Category 3 (Medium Localised).


AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR SUN 23/1/94
Heavy snow accompanied by gale force W-NW winds will deposit areas of
unstable windslab on all E and SE aspects and other sheltered
locations. Avalanches are likely in those areas. The avalanche risk
is expected to be Category 3 (Medium).


SUMMARY.
Unstable slab forming mainly on E and SE aspects, where avalanches
are likely. Category 3 (Medium).
