SE facing slopes and gullies resulting in a Category 3 (Medium
Localised) risk of avalanche in these areas.

Forecasted snow falling in severe gale force W winds will lead to
further accumulations of windslab on NE through to SE facing slopes and
gullies where avalanches are likely. Category 3 (Medium Localised)
risk of avalanche.

SUMMARY.
Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche on NE through to SE
facing slopes where avalanches are likely.

AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON WED 26/1/94
There are areas of layered, soft windslab lying on a stable neve
base, mainly on N though to E facing slopes above 850m. Avalanche
Risk Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR THU 27/1/94
Further precipitation as snow above 300m  and wind gusting storm
force will deposit windslab, mainly on N through to E facing slopes
above 800m. This will maintain the Avalanche Risk Category 3
(Medium). Avalanches are likely where deepest deposits of windslab
accumulate.

SUMMARY.
Further snowfall will maintain the risk Category 3 (Medium),mainly on
N and E facing slopes above 800m, where avalanches are likely.


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON WED 26/1/94
Strong winds and snow overnight have deposited areas of unstable
windslab, mainly on easterly aspects. The avalanche risk is Category
3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR THU 27/1/94
Heavy snow and gale force westerly winds will further load NE and E
aspects with unstable windslab. Avalanches will occur on those
aspects. The avalanche risk will increase to Category 4 (High).


SUMMARY.
Large areas of unstable windslab will form mainly on E aspects where
avalanches will occur. Risk increasing to Category 4 (High).
