places unstable snowpack. Old, wet windslab high on S to E facing
slopes shows marginal stability. Cornice and wet slab avalanche
debris noted on high E facing slopes high above Strath Nethy.
Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR SUN 30/1/94
A forecasted return to wintry conditions with moderate to heavy snow
showers and storm force SW through to NW winds will deposit windslab
of poor stability in high sheltered areas of NE through to SE facing
slopes and gullies where avalanches are likely. Category 3 (Medium)
risk of avalanche by the end of the period.

SUMMARY.
Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche on NE through to SE facing
slopes and gullies where avalanches are likely.

AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON WED 19/1/94
Fresh soft windslab has formed on a frozen base, largest
accumulations on all aspects of N facing coires above 8oom. Avalanche
Risk Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR THU 20/1/94
Further heavy precipitation as snow overnight above 850m. then as
rain at all levels, with gale force W winds, will add windslab to
existing deposits in N facing coires and then moisten and soften the
snowpack. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium). Avalanches are likely
in N facing coires above 850m. Large cornices may collapse as the
freezing level rises on Thursday.

SUMMARY.
Danger of wet slab avalanche and cornice collapse as freezing level
rises on Thursday.

snowpack on all slope aspects. The avalanche risk is Category 2
(Low).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR SUN 30/1/94
Continuing strong winds and a return to colder conditions will load
unstable windslab on NE, E and SE facing slopes, where avalanches are
likely to occur. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 3
(Medium).
