AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 30/1/94
Accumulations of unstable windslab exist high on sheltered slopes and
gullies of a S through to E aspect. Most other slopes have been
refrozen and scoured clear of new snow to form large areas of exposed
neve, with crusty conditions in some places. Category 4 (High
Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 31/1/94
Forecasted light snow showers and strong W, later S, winds and a rise
in freezing level to 1000m is expected to deposit pockets of
marginally stable windslab on slopes and gullies of a N aspect.
Existing windslab on suspect S to E facing slopes likely to see some
consolidation later. Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche.

GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 30/1/94
Lower temperatures over night have consolidated and refrozen the
snowpack.Isolated patches of windslab exist on a icy base above
700m. on N and E facing slopes.  Avalanche Risk Category 2 (Low).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 31/1/94
New snow and strong SW winds becoming S above 850m.Light
accumulations of snow are expected on slopes with a N and E facing
aspect.Windslab will form in isolated and sheltered  areas above
750m. giving Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).Becoming milder.

SUMMARY. Strong winds and fresh snow.Avalanche Risk Category 3
(Medium).


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 30/1/94
Cold conditions have consolidated the snowpack. Small pockets of
fresh snow are present on top of a very icy layer, mostly on Eastern
aspects. The avalanche risk is Category 2 (Low).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 31/1/94
Moderate SW winds and snow showers will load NE facing slopes with
unstable windslab. These areas will be confined to slopes above 800m.
The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 3 (Medium Localised)
