AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 31/1/94n
A generally stable snowpack exists. However there are isolated
patches of  windslab on sheltered slopes and gullies of a S through
to E aspect. Category 2 (Low) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUES 1/2/94
The freezing level is forecast to rise to summit level and then fall
to 750m, accompanied by strong W winds and moderate snow showers.
This will result in pockets of unstable slab on sheltered slopes of
a E aspect, giving a Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche.

SUMMARY.
Strong W winds with moderate snow showers resulting in pockets of
unstable slab on E facing slopes. Category 3 (Medium Localised).


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 31/1/94
Fresh unstable slab exists on top of a hard base, largest
accumulations  on easterly aspects above 800m. Where this slab
exists, the avalanche risk is Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 1/2/94
Wet snow avalanches will occur overnight on E aspects due to a thaw
at all levels. A cold westerly airflow tomorrow with heavy snow will
load E aspects with unstable windslab. Avalanches are likely on those
aspects. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 3 (Medium).

SUMMARY.
After an overnight thaw, heavy snow and gale force westerly winds
will form unstable windslab, mainly on E aspects. Category 3 (Medium)


GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 31/1/94
There are areas of layered, soft windslab lying on a stable neve base
mainly on N though to E facing slopes above 750m.   Avalanche Risk
Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 1/2/94
New snow and gale force W winds will continue to form areas of soft
windslab in gullies and sheltered hollows above 600m. Greatest
accumulations of snow are to be  expected on slopes with a N and E
facing aspect giving Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).Becoming
colder.

SUMMARY. Strong winds and fresh snow. Avalanche Risk Category 3
(Medium), mainly on N and E facing slopes.
