GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 7/2/94.
The old snow pack has consolidated and has formed an icy surface
layer on which fresh new snow is lying. There are areas of unstable
soft layered windslab mainly on slopes and gullies above 750m with a
NW through to NE aspect. Large cornices have formed above most N
facing corries. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).
                           
AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 8/2/94.
Moderate/high snowfall with strong S/SW winds will continue to
deposit fresh snow above 500m. Accumulations of fresh snow will be
unstable with greatest deposits lying mainly on slopes and gullies
with a NW to E aspect This will maintain the Avalanche Risk Category
3 (Medium). Avalanches are likely in areas of greatest accumulation.


SUMMARY.
Fresh accumulations of snow lying on an icy base. Avalanche Risk will
remain 3 (Medium),mainly on NW through to E aspects.


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 7/2/94
Unstable areas of windslab exist on an icy base. These deposits are
generally confined to northerly aspects and other sheltered
locations. The avalanche risk is Category 4 (High Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 8/2/94
Moderate snow fall accompanied by southerly winds will further load
lee slopes with unstable windslab. Avalanches will occur where this
fresh slab exists. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 4
(High).

SUMMARY.
Snow and S winds will further load lee slopes with unstable windslab.
Greatest accumulations will be on N aspects. Category 4 (High).


NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 7/2/94
Unstable windslab remains on most high, sheltered N facing slopes
and gullies. Where accumulations are greatest in these locations a
Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche exists.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 8/2/94
Light to moderate snow showers and moderate S winds will maintain the
current Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche on all high N facing
slopes and gullies where avalanches will occur.

SUMMARY.
No change to current Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche on all N
facing slopes and gullies where avalanches will occur.
