GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON TUE 8/2/94.
The old snow pack has consolidated and has formed an icy surface
layer on which fresh new snow is lying on slopes of all aspects.
Greatest accumulations are in gullies and sheltered slopes above
600m. Windslab has formed on slopes mainly with a NW through to E
aspect above 800m. Large cornices have formed above most N facing
corries. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).
                           
AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR WED 9/2/94.
Moderate snowfall with strong/gale force Westerly winds will deposit
unstable windslab in gullies and sheltered slopes above 800m.
Greatest accumulations of unstable snow are to be expected mainly on slopes
and gullies with a NW through to E aspect. This will maintain the
Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium). Avalanches are likely in areas of
greatest accumulation.                   

SUMMARY.
Fresh accumulations of snow lying on an icy base. Avalanche Risk will
remain 3 (Medium), mainly on NW through to E facing slopes.


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON TUE 8/2/94
Strong SSW winds have deposited large areas of unstable windslab
mainly on N aspects and some E aspects. Natural avalanche activity
observed in Coire an Lochain, Aonach Mor. The avalanche risk is
Category 4 (High).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR 9/2/94
Gale force westerly winds and continuing snow showers will load all
easterly aspects with unstable windslab. Avalanches will occur in
these areas. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 4 (High).

SUMMARY.
Gale force westerly winds and continuing snow showers will load all
easterly aspects with unstable windslab. Category 4 (High).


NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON TUE 8/2/94
Storm force SW winds and drifting snow have maintained areas of
unstable windslab on many high sheltered N facing slopes and gullies,
where a Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche exists. Avalanche
activity observed N facing slopes Coire an t-Sneachda.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR WED 9/2/94
Light to moderate snow showers and strong W winds will maintain the
current Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche. Fresh accumulations
of windslab expected on N through to E facing slopes and gullies
where avalanches will occur.

SUMMARY.
No change to current Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche with further
windslab expected on N to E facing slopes where avalanches will occur.
