snowpack. Small unstable areas will be present, mostly on northerly
aspects. The avalanche risk will remain at Category 3 (Medium
Localised).

Generally there is a stable refrozen crust on the surface of the
snowpack. Above 900m there are areas of windslab, mainly on N
through to E facing slopes. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium
Localised).

It will become colder but remain dry with strong winds. The condition
of the snowpack is not expected to change significantly. Avalanche
Risk Category 3 (Medium Localised).

SUMMARY.
Generally stable conditions but areas of windslab exist mainly on N
through to E facing slopes above 900m. Category 3 (Medium Localised).


NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SAT 12/2/94
Stormforce S and strong, variable local winds have scoured many areas
in the N.Corries. However, patches of windslab remain in high,
sheltered N facing gully areas where there is a Category 3 (Medium
Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR SUN 13/2/94
Forecasted colder conditions with moderate S winds - and a risk of a
little light snow during the day - may lead to the build up of
additional windslab on N facing slopes and gullies, giving a Category
3 (Medium) risk of avalanche in those areas.

SUMMARY.
S winds and a chance of light snow during the day will give a
Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche on N facing slopes and gullies.
