remaining very cold with severe gale force se winds and moderate/high
snowfall during course of day. windslab will form on all sheltered
slopes above 600m with greatest deposits likely in gullies and slopes
with a w through to ne aspect. avalanche risk category 4 (high).
avalanches will occur where windslab exists.

lochaber
avalanche risk at 1500 on mon 14/2/94
small areas of unstable snow remain on a stable base. these deposits
are generally confined to northerly aspects above 900m. the avalanche
risk is category 3 (medium localised).

avalanche risk outlook for tue 15/1/94
the cold southeasterly airstream will continue overnight and
tomorrow. strong winds and moderate snowfall will form unstable
windslab on all northerly aspects. heavy drifting will occur in
sheltered locations. avalanches are likely on nw, n and ne aspects.
the avalanche risk is expected to be category 3 (medium).

northern cairngorms
avalanche risk at 1500 on mon 14/2/94
snow showers, cold temperatures and strong se winds have created
areas of unstable windslab high on sheltered nw facing slopes and
gullies. some small slides triggered at low altitudes in coire an
t-sneachda. category 4 (high localised) risk of avalanche. approach
slopes to many climbs scoured down to hard neve in the n.corries.

a very strong and cold e to se airstream will continue to feed snow
showers - heavy during tuesday - into the area and load additional
unstable windslab onto sheltered w to nw slopes and gullies where avalanches
will occur. category 4 (high) risk of avalanche.
