AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 17/2/94
Generally there is a refrozen stable surface on the snowpack. Above
800m there are small areas of windslab, mainly on N through to W
facing slopes. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 18/2/94
Light snowfall and strong SE winds will give some further accumulation
of windslab on N through to W facing slopes above 750m. Avalanche
Risk Category 3 (Medium Localised).

SUMMARY.
Generally stable snowpack, but areas of windslab on N through to W
facing slopes above 750m giving Avalanche Risk 3 (Medium Localised).

NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 17/2/94
Strengthening SE winds have redeposited lying snow as soft windslab
high in many N facing gullies; some sluffing also noted. Approach
slopes to most climbs in N.Corries remain hard and scoured. Category
3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 18/2/94
Remaining dry and cold but forecasted moderate to strong SE winds
will continue to redeposit lying snow as windslab on slopes and
gullies of a N aspect, giving a Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche
in those areas.

SUMMARY.
Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche on N facing slopes and gullies.

AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 17/2/94
A generally stable snowpack exists on most aspects. Fresh SE winds
have deposited small areas of unstable windslab on northerly aspects,
greatest accumulations on NW aspects. The avalanche risk is Category
3 (Medium Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 18/2/94
Fresh SE winds and snowshowers will continue to load northerly
aspects with unstable windslab, greatest accumulations on NW facing
slopes, including the Red Burn area on Ben Nevis. The avalanche risk
is expected to be Category 3 (Medium).

SUMMARY.
Unstable windslab continuing to form on northerly aspects, including
the Red Burn area on Ben Nevis. Avalanche risk Category 3 (Medium).
