LOCHABER AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 20/2/94 Small areas of unstable snow exist although they are generally confined to N and NW aspects. Elsewhere the snowpack is generally stable. The avalanche risk is Category 3 (Medium Localised). AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 21/2/94 The southerly winds are expected to continue overnight and tomorrow. Small areas of unstable snow will still be present mainly on northerly aspects. Elsewhere the snowpack will generally be stable. The avalanche risk will remain at Category 3 (Medium Localised). NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 20/2/94 A generally very hard, icy and stable snowpack exists. However, pockets of windslab have been found on steep sheltered N facing slopes and although small and easy to avoid they do present a Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk. AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 21/2/94 Forecasted fresh to strong E winds and light snow will lead to a build up of windslab on W through to NW facing slopes and gullies.
