AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 25/2/94 Forecasted light snowfall and light/moderate SE to E winds will maintain a Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche on sheltered N to W facing slopes and gullies, where avalanches are likely. SUMMARY. The current Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche will be maintained on N to W facing slopes and gullies,where avalanches are likely. LOCHABER AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 24/2/94 Northeasterly winds and light snowfall overnight have deposited small areas of unstable snow, mainly on westerly aspects and other sheltered locations. The avalanche risk is Category 3 (Medium Localised). AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 25/2/94 Pockets of unstable windslab will be present on westerly aspects. Cold easterly winds and no precipitation will continue tomorrow, this will have little effect on the generally stable snowpack. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 3 (Medium Localised). SUMMARY. Generally stable snowpack, with pockets of unstable slab on westerly aspects and other sheltered locations. Category 3 (Medium Localised). GLENCOE AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 24/2/94 Generally there is a stable surface crust on the snowpack. Above 800m there are isolated areas of soft windslab on SW through to N facing slopes, mainly in gullies and hollows. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium Localised). AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 25/2/94 No significant change in the condition of the snowpack is expected. Localised areas of soft windslab on SW through to N facing slopes will remain.
