AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 28/2/94
New snow and strong winds have continued to form windslab in
sheltered areas but especially in gullies on slopes of all aspects
above 700m.  Avalanche Risk Category 4 (High).Avalanche activity
observed on Buachaille Etive Mor.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 1/3/94
The snowpack will remain unchanged above 700m with areas of windslab
formed mainly on S through to N facing slopes. However all slopes must
be treated with caution above 700m.High risk of victim triggered
avalanches where deposits are greatest. Avalanche Risk Category 4
(High).

SUMMARY
High avalanche risk on all slopes above 700m.

NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 28/2/94
Extensive accumulations of weakly stabilised windslab are present on
SW to NW facing slopes and gullies. The snowpack on high, steep and
sheltered N facing areas also shows poor stability, but with
localised scouring at lower altitudes. Avalanche and cornice debris
noted below Jacob's Ladder in Coire an t-Sneachda. Category 4 (High)
risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 1/3/94
Forecasted moderate to strong SE winds and snow showers will maintain
the current Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche on NW to N facing
slopes and gullies where avalanches will occur.

SUMMARY.
Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche will be maintained mainly on N to
NW slopes and gullies where avalanches will occur.


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 28/2/94
Large areas of unstable windslab exist mainly on westerly aspects. On
other aspects, smaller areas of unstable windslab also exist in
sheltered areas, caused by local wind effects. The avalanche risk is
Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 1/3/94
Overnight snow with NE winds veering SE tomorrow will continue to
load slopes with unstable windslab. Greatest accumulations will be on
westerly aspects and other sheltered areas, where avalanches are
likely. The avalanche risk will remain at Category 3 (Medium).

SUMMARY.
Avalanches are likely, mainly on westerly aspects and other areas
sheltered from the easterly winds. Category 3 (Medium).
