W winds and snow showers have led to the rapid build up of weakly
stabilised windslab in some areas of high, steep NE to E facing
slopes and gullies. The remainder of the refrozen snowpack is hard
and icy. Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR THU 10/3/94
Strong W winds and snow showers are forecast to persist through the
period. This will maintain the build up of weakly stabilised windslab
on NE to E facing slopes and gullies where avalanches will occur.
Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche in those areas.

SUMMARY.
Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche on slopes and gullies
of a NE to E where avalanches will occur.


GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON WED 9/3/94
The old snow has stabilised as it has refrozen.It has a firm crust
where exposed. Accumulations of fresh snow are lying on all aspects
of N facing corries, those deepest on N through to E facing slopes
above 900m. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR THU 10/3/94
Moderate snowfall with WNW wind, backing SW and gusting to gale
force, will give accumulations of windslab on N through to SE facing
slopes above 800m. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium). Avalanches are
likely in these areas.

SUMMARY
More widespread windslab forming on N through to SE facing slopes
above 800m where avalanches are likely. Avalanche Risk 3 (Medium).


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON WED 9/3/94
Areas of very unstable windslab exist on top of an icy crust,
greatest accumulations on easterly aspects. The avalanche risk is
Category 4 (High Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR THU 10/3/94
Continuing snowfall and gale force winds will further load unstable
windslab on slopes with  NE, E and SE aspects where avalanches will
occur. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 4 (High).

SUMMARY
Futher unstable windslab forming on NE, E and SE facing slopes where
avalanches will occur. Category 4 (High).
