AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 10/3/94
There are moderate accumulations of fresh windslab containing hail
layers lying in N facing corries mainly on N through to E facing
slopes above 800m. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 11/3/94
The freezing level will rise above the tops overnight with heavy
rain/sleet. Avalanches are likely on N through to E facing slopes
above 800m. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium). Further windslab will
accumulate on Fri. as the temperature falls.

SUMMARY.
Avalanches are likely as overnight thaw is followed by further build
up of windslab. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 10/3/94
Large accumulations of unstable windslab exist, mainly on slopes with
a northeast and easterly aspect. The avalanche risk is Category 4
(High).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 11/3/94
A rapid thaw overnight will cause wet snow avalanches. Early
tomorrow, heavy snow and strong SW winds will form large areas of
unstable windslab mainly on N and E aspects, where avalanches will
occur. The avalanche risk is expected to be Category 4 (High).

SUMMARY.
Large areas of unstable windslab forming on N and E aspects, where
avalanches will occur. Category 4 (High).

NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON 10/3/94
Windslab exists on many high E to NE facing slopes and gullies.
Although fairly rapid consolidation is taking place of these recent
deposits, instabilities still remain in these areas. Avalanche Risk
Category 4 (High Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 11/3/94
A forcasted thaw overnight (freezing level 1300m) followed by colder
conditions (freezing level 700m) will stabilise the existing
snowpack. However further moderate snowfall and strong SW winds will
develope windslab on NE and E facing slopes and gullies, where
avalanches will occur. Avalanche Risk Category 4 (High Localised).

SUMMARY.
Further snowfall and strong SW winds will maintain the current
Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche on NE to E facing
slopes and gullies, where avalanches will occur.
