AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 13/3/94
Large areas of unstable snow exist, mainly on easterly aspects and
other areas sheltered from the westerly wind. The avalanche risk is
Category 4 (High).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 14/3/94
Warmer conditions overnight will be followed by colder temperatures
again tomorrow with further heavy snow and gale force winds. The
snowpack will remain in an unstable condition, especially on easterly
aspects, where avalanches will occur. The avalanche risk will remain
at Category 4 (High).

SUMMARY.
The snowpack will remain in an unstable condition, especially on

GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 13/3/94
New snow and high winds have formed unstable accumulations on slopes
above 700m.  Greatest accumulations are to be found on slopes with a
N through to SE aspect and in all sheltered gullies and hollows.
Avalanche Risk Category 4 (High). Avalanche debris observed in
Buachaille Etive Mor gullies .

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 14/3/94
Severe gale force Westerly winds and heavy snowfall with a period of
heavy rain at all levels overnight turning back to snow during course
of day. This will give further accumulations of unstable new snow
mainly on N through to SE facing slopes above 700m and in all
sheltered gullies and hollows. This will maintain Avalanche Risk
Category 4 (High). Avalanches will occur in these areas.

SUMMARY.
Avalanches will occur due to accumulation of new snow above 700m in
gullies and on N to SE slopes.Avalanche Risk will remain 4 (High)

NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON SUN 13/3/94
Hurricane force NW winds, in combination with strong local winds,
have scoured slopes of many aspects down to hard snow/ice. However,
accumulations of poorly stabilised windslab persist in some high,
steep, sheltered areas of NE to SE facing slopes and gullies.
Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR MON 14/3/94
The forecasted fluctuating temperatures are expected to bring some
consolidation to deposits of recent windslab. Light to moderate snow
showers on storm force WSW, later WNW, winds may result in the build
up of some areas of only moderately stabilised windslab in sheltered
places on steep slopes and gullies of a NE to SE aspect. Category 3
(Medium) risk of avalanche where accumulations of windslab are
greatest.

SUMMARY.
Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche where the build up of new
windslab is greatest on NE to SE facing slopes and gullies.
