Becoming colder with moderate/high snowfall and severe gale force W
to NW winds. Existing snowpack will start to consolidate as freezing
level drops to 300m. However new snow will form areas of unstable
windslab mainly on NE through to SE facing slopes and sheltered
gullies above 650m. Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium). Avalanches
are likely where windslab has formed.

slopes and sheltered gullies above 650m. Avalanche Risk 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 14/3/94
Fluctuating temperatures have led to some consolidation of windslab
(from the recent storm cycle), on steep and sheltered slopes of an E
aspect, resulting in a Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche
in these areas.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 15/3/94
Forecasted storm force W to NW winds and heavy snow showers will lead
to a build up of windslab on steep and sheltered, E through to SE
facing slopes and gullies where avalanches will occur. Category 4
(High Localised) risk of avalanche where accumulations of slab are
greatest.

SUMMARY.
Category 4 (High Localised) risk of avalanche on E to SE facing
slopes where avalanches will occur.

AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 14/3/94
A thaw at all levels last night and colder temperatures today have
stabilised the existing snowpack. Some fresh snow exists, but it is
insignificant in quantity. The avalanche risk is Category 2 (Low).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 15/3/94
Some fresh snow overnight accompanied by strong W to NW winds will
deposit areas of unstable snoww. Deposits will generally be confined
to E and SE aspects. Elsewhere the snowpack will be stable. The
avalanche risk will be Category 3 (Medium Localised).
SUMMARY.
Some new, unstable windslab, mainly on E and SE facing slopes.
