GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1400 ON TUE 15/3/94
The old snow has stabilised and has a refrozen crust above 700m. New
snow has formed areas of unstable windslab mainly on NE through to SE
slopes and in sheltered gullies above 800m. Avalanche Risk Category 3
(Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR WED 16/3/94
Heavy snowfall with gale/severe gale W/NW winds will give further
accumulations of unstable new snow mainly on NE through to SE slopes
and in all sheltered gullies above 700m. Avalanche Risk Category 4
(High). Avalanches will occur in areas of greatest accumulation.

SUMMARY.
Avalanches will occur where windslab has formed mainly on NE to SE
slopes and sheltered gullies above 800m. Avalanche Risk 4 (High).

LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON TUE 15/3/94
Overnight snow and strong westerly winds have deposited large areas of
unstable snow, largest deposits being on easterly aspects. Avalanche
activity observed on most east facing slopes on Aonach Mor. The
avalanche risk is Category 4 (High).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR WED 16/3/94
Continuing heavy snow and strong W to NW winds will further load
existing unstable snow. Avalanches will occur, especially on easterly
aspects. Cornices will also be prone to collapse. The avalanche risk is
expected to increase to Category 5 (Very High).

SUMMARY.
Avalanches will occur, especially on easterly aspects. Cornices will
also be prone to collapse. Risk increasing to Category 5 (Very High).

NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON TUE 15/3/94
A generally hard, icy and stable snowpack exists.
However very strong NW winds and heavy snow showers around midday have
started to drift snow onto sheltered S to E facing slopes and gullies
These pockets of slab are small and generally easily avoidable. Category 2
(Low) risk of avalanche.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR WED 16/2/94
Forecasted very strong WNW winds and heavy snowfall will lead to a rapid
build up of windslab on NE to SE facing slopes and gullies where
avalanches will occur. Category 4 (High) risk of avalanche where any
significant accumulations exist.

SUMMARY.
Category 4 (High) avalanche risk on NE to SE facing slopes where
avalanches will occur.
