AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 28/3/94
Above 850m the old snowpack where exposed has a stable refrozen
crust. There are areas of unstable new snow mainly on NW through to E
facing slopes and in all sheltered gullies and hollows. Avalanche
Risk Category 3 (Medium). Avalanche debris noted Coire nam Beith.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 29/3/94
A strong rather cold W airstream and moderate to high snowfall
overnight and during course of day will give further accumulations of
unstable new snow mainly on slopes of a N through to SE aspect and in
all sheltered gullies and hollows above 700m. Avalanches are likely
where deposits of new snow are greatest. Avalanche Risk Category 3
(Medium).

LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 28/3/94
Areas of fresh unstable slab exist on slopes and gullies with an
easterly aspect. This unstable snow is confined to altitudes above
1100m. The avalanche risk is Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 29/3/94
Overnight westerly winds accompanied by moderate snowfall will form
unstable windslab on all easterly aspects and other locations
sheltered from the wind. Avalanches will occur on E aspects. Cornices
will remain unstable, and prone to collapse. The avalanche risk will
be Category 4 (High).

SUMMARY.
Avalanches will occur on E aspects, due to westerly winds and
moderate snowfall forming fresh unstable windslab. Category 4 (High).


NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON MON 28/3/94
Very strong S winds and a gradual thaw of recent snowfall have caused
several loose snow avalanches on steep N facing slopes and gullies.
Debris of numerous loose snow avalanches  observed in Coire an
t-Sneachda. Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche. Some
risk of cornice collapse and snow and ice fall off rocks is likely in
thaw conditions.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR TUE 29/3/94
Gale force W winds and snow as the freezing level falls from 1100 m
to 800 m will lead to the build up of windslab on slopes of an E
aspect where avalanches are likely.  Category 3  (Medium Localised)
risk of avalanche where any accumulations are significant.

SUMMARY.
Category 3 (Medium Localised) risk of avalanche on sheltered E facing
slopes where avalanches are likely.
