Fresh accumulations of snow are being deposited in storm force SW
winds. Where significant deposits exist on sheltered N through to E
facing slopes a Category 3 (Medium) risk of avalanche exists.

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 1/4/94
Severe gale force SW to W winds and snow-fall are forecast to
continue throughout the period. This will result in further
accumulations of windslab on sheltered N through to E facing slopes
and gullies where avalanches are likely. Category 3 (Medium)
risk of avalanche in these areas.

SUMMARY.
Category 3 (Medium) risk on N through to E facing slopes and gullies
where avalanches are likely.


GLENCOE
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 31/3/94
Gale force SW winds, rain and new snow above 600m.  The fresh snow
has formed soft windslab which is lying mainly on N through to SE
facing slopes above 800m, accumulations greatest in gullies and
hollows.  Avalanche Risk Category 3 (Medium Localised).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 1/4/94
Becoming colder with moderate snowfall and gale force W winds, which
will continue to deposit areas of soft windslab above 700m, mainly on
NW through to E facing slopes and gullies. Avalanche Risk Category 3
(Medium Localised).  Avalanches are likely in areas of greatest
accumulation.

SUMMARY
Avalanches are likely on NW through to E facing slopes above 700m due
to new snow deposits. Avalanche Risk 3 (Medium Localised).


LOCHABER
AVALANCHE RISK AT 1500 ON THU 31/3/94
Overnight snow and strong SW winds have deposited fresh unstable snow
on NE aspects. Greatest accumulations are on slopes above 950m.
Cornices are unstable. The avalanche risk is Category 3 (Medium).

AVALANCHE RISK OUTLOOK FOR FRI 1/4/94
Continuing snow showers and gale force westerly winds will further
load unstable windslab on NE and E facing slopes, where avalanches
will occur. Cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche risk
will be Category 4 (High).

SUMMARY.
Unstable windslab forming on NE and E aspects, where avalanches will
occur. Cornices remaining unstable. Avalanche risk Category 4 (High).
