As some of you will have seen on Sunday, the SAIS avalanche forecast reports have finished for another year. The access stats are as follows... Email 1983 total requests from 473 different addresses. WWW 4787 total requests from 1306 different Internet addresses. At the height of the climbing season there were well over 50 requests a day and on some Fridays well over 100 requests, and that's ignoring multiple requests from any site or address. We plan to run the service again next year, and thanks to suggestions from users of this service, climbing condition information will be included in next year's reports. Having said that, it is never certain that a public service like this will always be funded. So if you use the avalanche forecasts and want to help keep them going, it would be a great help to Blyth Wright (SAIS co-ordinator) if you could tell him your opinions on the forecasts, be they good or bad.
