NORTHERN CAIRNGORMS AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS TUE 19/12/95 A small quantity of fresh snow has been deposited overnight. Above 900m on primarily S to SE facing slopes some instabliity of this new snow exists. Due to the small amounts of snow involved however the avalanche hazard remains Low (Category 1) AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK WED 20/12/95 Wintry conditions with light N winds and overnight snow showers continuing on Wednesday will cause further accumulations of snow on primarily S to SE facing slopes and gullies.These small fresh accumulations are not expected to bring much change to the current avalanche hazard which will remain Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Small quantities of fresh snow at all levels. Deeper accumulations exist in sheltered areas above 900m ICING: Small build up in a few areas COMMENT: Gully line are very poor. Buttresses thin. LOCHABER AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS TUE 19/12/95 A light dusting of snow exists above 800m. There is insufficient snow to produce any significant avalanche hazard. The avalanche hazard is Low (Category 1). AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK WED 20/12/95 No significant snowfall is expected within the next 24 hour period. The avalanche hazard will continue to be Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Light dusting of snow above 800m. ICING: Widespread icing on many open slopes. COMMENT: Climbing conditions are 'thin', although the turf is frozen. GLENCOE AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS TUE 19/12/95 A very light covering of fresh snow exists above 700m.There is no significant depth of snow to be of any hazard. Avalanche hazard Low (Category 1). AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK WED 20/12/95 Remaining cold with light snow showers above 650m.Avalanche Hazard remaining Low (Category 1).
