AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK MON 15/1/96 The mild southerly airflow will further reduce the soft wet snowpack.Greatest accumulations remain in summit gullies and corrie headwalls facing N to NW above 800m.In these areas the avalanche hazard is Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Wet snow above 800m. ICING: Thawing ice above 800m. COMMENT: Rain at all levels. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOCHABER AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS SUN 14/1/96 Rain at all levels has started to stabilise and consolidate the existing areas of snow. Some localised areas of instability are still present, however they are generally small in area. Where these deposits exist, the avalanche hazard is Moderate (Category 2). Elsewhere, the snowpack is generally stable. AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK MON 15/1/96 Rain at all levels is expected overnight and on Monday. This will further stabilise and consolidate all the existing snow. All remaining snow will be wet and generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Greatest accumulations are above 1100m. ICING: Snow will continue to thaw at all levels.
