AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK SUN 21/1/96 Temperatures will continue to drop stabilising the remaining snowpack.Light showers will deposit pockets of shallow windslab over old snow in summit gullies and corrie headwalls. In these areas the avalanche hazard will be Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Patches of snow in gullies above 700m. ICING: Ice reforming above 500m. The existing old snow has also frozen above this altitude. There are no instabilities within the snowpack. The avalanche hazard is Low (Category 1). AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK SUN 21/1/96 Colder conditions are expected overnight and tomorrow but there is no significant snowfall expected. The snowpack will remain stable. The avalanche hazard will remain Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Light dusting of new snow above 1000m. ICING: The snowpack will be freezing at all levels.
