Snow lies in isolated patches on all aspects above 600 metres. The snowpack is generally well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low (Category 1). AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK FRI 16/12/05 Rain and strong North-Westerly winds will continue to affect the area overnight. During the day snow will fall in showers to 100 metres and accumulations will develop on South-Easterly to South- Westerly aspects. Due to the new snow lying on old snowpack remnants, the avalanche hazard will be Moderate (Category 2). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Isolated patches above 600m. ICING: Old snow is firm and icy. COMMENT: Buttresses are black and gullies are thin and incomplete. LOCHABER AVALANCHE HAZARD 1500 HRS THU 15/12/05 There is an old and sparse snowpack with accumulations generally restricted to gullies and scarp slopes above 1100m. This snow is re-frozen and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low (Category 1). AVALANCHE HAZARD OUTLOOK FRI 16/12/05 Rain overnight will gradually turn to snow showers above 300m during Friday. New snow accumulations are not expected to be significant. Snow stability will remain good. The avalanche hazard will be Low (Category 1). CLIMBING CONDITIONS SNOW DISTRIBUTION: Patchy cover in N and E facing corries. ICING: Old snow remaining frozen at all levels.
