Cool ,dry conditions overnight and during the day. Freezing level forecasted to be 800m. Winds will be strong South-Westerly.

Forecasted Snow Stability and Avalanche Hazard

Stability will be good in many places. Some residual wet snow instability will remain in particular on steep North-East through East to South-East aspects. All cornices will be marginally-stabilised. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Observed Weather Influences

Wet with snow above 950m overnight and then showery and warmer during the day with strong West to North-West winds.

Observed Snow Stability and Avalanche Hazard

There was a period of poor stability as snow turned to rain during the morning. Loose snow avalanche debris noted on a steep South-East aspect. Drier conditions brought about some marginal consolidation in most recent snow deposits on North-East through East to South-East aspects. Cornice debris noted in one or two places but most remain intact. The avalanche hazard is Considerable

Snow DistributionWet snow at lower levels. Snow line steadily creeping upwards with best cover now above 700m.
IcingIce in quantity on some classic routes, narrower ones suffering in the sustained thaw. Cooler conditions forecast for overnight and during the day.
CommentOutlook is briefly cooler and then back to thawing conditions right up to the weekend.
